One Plus Four = Many More
As I write this blog I am sitting at a place that didn’t exist 1 year ago. Palace at the Paramount turns 1 year old today. It reminds me that a lot can happen in a year. Palace has experienced the excitement of winning Americas Best Coffeehouse, opened our second location in downtown Amarillo, doubled the size of our staff, met many new faces, had to say goodbye to some amazing people, went to multiple coffee competitions and even began to dream big about our future.
The constant in all of this is our wonderful customers and the community they helped to create in and out of our shops. This is why I got into coffee and why I am so excited to come to work everyday and work with a staff that truly loves people and the craft of making great coffee. As a 6”2 bald and bearded man I have been told I can come across a bit intimidating but I’ll let you in on a secret. I am a bit of a softy. I cannot tell you the amount of times that I have become emotional in telling people about the special people of our Palace Family. It all comes back to you guys and for that I am immensely grateful.
It is with that heart that I am excited to tell you about some big things coming up in our future. In the coming weeks you will be able to see and taste Palace Coffee in a whole new way. We will be launching our very own line of coffee.
Over the years we have been able to feature some amazing coffee roasters most notably Evocation Coffee Roasters of Amarillo. We have enjoyed success in serving coffee from these great professionals and learning from them. In looking towards our future we started to become excited about becoming well rounded in the world of coffee, not only in serving fantastic coffee but also sourcing and roasting great coffee ourselves.
Now we realize the need to walk before we run. In that truth we will be working with one of the featured roasters that has been in our shops. We will be working with Kaldi’s Coffee from St. Louis on our program. They have been roasting amazing coffee for over 20 years and have won multiple awards over that time. We are excited to be sourcing coffee with them while we walk towards opening our very own local roasterie in Amarillo/Canyon. Our very own coffee director Andrew McCaslin will be moving to St. Louis to work for them and help to oversee our program.
In celebrating our One year anniversary for our Amarillo shop, our Four year anniversary for our original shop on the square in Canyon, and to roll out our brand spanking new coffee program we thought a party would be in order.
June 27th you will be able to come into our Amarillo store and be a part of brewing demonstrations, latte art demonstrations, a public cupping, music, beer (Yellow City Brew Pub), and food. We will also be giving you all $1 off specialty drinks all day in both locations. Keep an eye out through our social media touch points for further details.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for allowing me to live my dream and to keep dreaming. I’ll see you all over a cup of coffee.
